YAM SAI sold at a local market on Yoh Island, Songkhla.
Several species of Gracilariaceae grow abundantly in Songkhla Lake, a shallow brackish water lake. Gracilaria salad, known locally as "YAM SAI" has been a famous food in Yoh Isaland village for more than 100 years. Villagers believe that the seaweeds have characteristics of gastritis laxative and goiter medicine. Gracilaria salad is available from older generation local sellers along the street at the price of about 30-35 Baht per dish.
