This species has erect branches that are strap-shaped, slightly twisted, dichotomously branched with an acute angle, 2-4 mm wide, with entire margins and aculeate tips. The plants grow on rocks and gravel in lower intertidal to subtidal zones along moderately wave exposed shorelines.
