The plants form filamentous tufts up to 1.5 cm in height. The filaments are fine and about 20 µm in diameter. The color is dark to reddish brown. This species is an epiphyte, and grows on other seaweeds such as Sargassaceae in subtidal zones along shorelines with moderate to strong wave activity.
