The plants grow to 2-3 cm in height, and have branchlets with compressed hemispherical tips that are 3-5 mm in diameter. The branchlets of this seaweed have no constrictions between the base of the hemispherical head and the stalks. This seaweed forms in clumps on rocks in subtidal zones along shorelines with moderate wave activity.
