The plants are small, broom-like in shape and grow to be to 3-4 cm tall. The main axes are slender with dichotomous and trichotomous branching. The branchlets are short, alternately divergent or branch off in the same direction, and are acuminate. This species grows on rocks in mid to lower intertidal zones along moderately wave exposed shorelines.
